Walking Tour at the Woodland Park Cemetery & Arboretum

This past summer, Charity's Children Project was invited by the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society to speak about the life and legacy of Jewelia Galloway Higgins during a walking tour at the Woodland Park Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

This event highlighted little know histories of every day people who made extraordinary contributions to the Miami Valley. Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Mrs. Higgins' birth, the Charity's Children Project shared her contributions to the region, her love of family and community.

Over two hundred years of Charity's Children lie in internal rest at Dayton's Woodland Cemetery. They were honored in sharing the history of Mother Jewelia to commemorate the 150th year of her birth. Patricia Smith Griffin gave a presentation on behalf of the family.
